I Planted Some Vegetables

Last weekend I planted some vegetables in my garden.

It feels hot outside so the vegetables should grow quickly.

zucchini

I tried to grow zucchini for the first time.
It hasn’t attracted any insects yet.I’m looking forward to eating it with tomato spaghetti.

corn

I planted eleven stalks of corn this year.
Last year I could only get two ears of corns because antcows ate most of the corn.
So I will check them carefully and take off any insects.

sweet pepper
watermelon
eggplant

The other vegetables are also doing fine.
Two or three seedlings are enough for us to have summer vegetables to eat.
We will have to get them almost every day during the summer season.
The taste is very good because I grow them myself.

I live in Kawagoe-city Saitama-prefecture Japan. There are many traditional warehouses in Kawagoe. So many Japanese and the people from overseas come to sightseeing. http://www.koedo.or.jp/foreign/english/index.html

  1. How nice.

Eating watermelon to cool down in the summer heat would be very nice. ^^ Hope you’ll enjoy all that you planted. 🙂

  2. really good how concentrated and focused you use your little garden! heard, that there was 1996 EHEC outbreak in Japan – like we have now our experiences. it is good, to have an own garden in those epidemic times!

  3. I too love gardening though here in Mumbai there isnt much space, love the fresh fruits and veggies… As others have said nothing beats home grown stuff.
    Have a nice day:)

  4. Gardening is a lot of fun! Our garden is mostly potatoes, since that is what my dad likes to grow (and eat). But we have tomatoes, beans, cabbages and other things too. Beware of getting too many zucchinis from that plant though! People always seem to end up with more zucchinis than they know what to do with.

  5. Hi, I’m visiting you! I saw your reply in Just Another Day in Japan, featuring this post. My job in the U.S. is in plant health so I was curious about your garden. I think it’s terrific. Great job!
Where I work, we don’t call those insects, antcows, we call them aphids. But since I know a bit about them and their relationship to ants, I understood exactly the insect you were talking about. (And that made me happy!) I hope they don’t attack your corn this year and I hope many pollinators come to your garden.

    1. Thank you for stopping by and comment. I could know some English words related vegetables due to you and I’m glad to know you who are specialist about garden. 🙂

  6. Excellent effort! I am so impressed by your garden of vegetables…
I have tomatoes this year, and while they are growing fruit, I hope they will survive the summer.
I look forward to seeing pictures of your plantings. 🙂
