A word game (文字ぴったん mojipittan)

I can’t go out for a long time on the weekend because of my pollen allergy.
A large amount of pollen has been released this year.
I have plenty of time but I have nothing to do by myself.

On the other hand my daughters are very good at finding out what they want to do.

Yesterday my elderst daughter made a word game.
She made cards written with every kind of “hiragana” letter from paper and colored them with colored pencils.

This game is to make words which have a meaning.

1 We have ten random cards each.

2 We each place a card on a large piece of paper when it was our turn.
We must make words which have a meaning..
For example you add the letter ” ka (か)” and “ki(き) ” and you get “kaki(かき、柿)” which means “persimmon”.

3 If you can’t make any words, you pass the turn.

4 We repeat it until someone places all his/her cards.
He/she who places all the cards first is the winner of the game.

That’s all.

I had to play this game with my children more than five times.

My children are never bored with the same things.
Everytime they can find something new which are meanings, sounds and episodes of the words.

I live in Kawagoe-city Saitama-prefecture Japan. There are many traditional warehouses in Kawagoe. So many Japanese and the people from overseas come to sightseeing. http://www.koedo.or.jp/foreign/english/index.html

  1. Your girls are indeed creative and imaginative! It’s good that they can think of things to do themselves instead of just staring at TV/computer games.🙂

  2. Cool! What a great game and I love those colorful cards hey created. Aren’t children just wonderful with their creativity? I love their approach to the goings-on.🙂
BTW, I have given you a Versatile Blogger award. Stop by to collect it!🙂

Thank you for giving me a Versatile Blogger. ( but I haven’t known it cleary.)
It is such an honor to receive the award.
I think that it is a chance to make new friends.🙂

  3. Her game looks similar to the game of Scrabble. But your daughter’s version is much more colorful!
