That is to say, this is a gate in Shinto shrine.

  1. Very nice photo. I love torii gates, it reminds me of Japan. I have a small vermillion colored one on my home office desk, I think I bought it at the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto.

  3. I love the shadow of this torii.
    As far as I am concerned, Torii with a red color is one of the characteristics of Inari Shrine where Ukanomitama (宇迦之御魂) is enshrined. The most famous one is in Kyoto (Fushimi Inari Shrine). Since Inari shrine is one of the most common shrine, it is distributed throughout Japan. And as the time goes by, the other shrines started to have a red torii…
