Basically, you can use public toilets for free in Japan
Most of them are clean and spacious, fortunately

There are definitely a lot of unique toilets in Japan. We found a kids one in a small car recently at a big shopping mall in Gifu

That’s really nice. I wish that I had visited some countries when I was a student. If you visit Japan again, Kawagoe 川越 is a good old city for tourists.
Wow, they make it fun to visit the bathroom. My favorite is the tiger. The only time I had to pay to use a public bathroom was in Europe.
