Practicing To Use a Chopsticks
My youngest daughter, who is five years old, started to practice using chopsticks at home and a day care
It’s important to use it correctly for Japanese
There is a tool to learn about a way of using chopsticks
This is a special tool both for a right-handed person and left-handed person
I hope that she’ll use it correctly because I can’t use it well unfortunately

I love that they are using little gold fish to practise
Thank you It’s a good way to practice
i hope she learns it quickly!! do you choose to eat with a fork instead?
Thanks I use a fork when I eat spaghetti and so on
However, I often use a chopstick although I’m not good at using it b:)
Tris was so cute and interesting!
Thank you so much!
My pleasure Thanks for stopping by
I did not know there was a special tool for right and left handed people to learn. Interesting post
Thanks When I was a child, I didn’t know that I wish that I used it
I’ve always found chopsticks very hard to use too. I’d like to try again with that tool. I hope your daughter has success with it
Thank you so much If you understand the way of using a chopsticks, you will never forget it
I have too these sticks, I should try likee that… Thank you, love, nia
Thanks I’m sure that you can do it
I used to notice (but never commented) that my Japanese friend didn’t really use chopsticks well. She holds them in a strange way, and so does her daughter. Now you say you don’t use them well! I am so surprised, I thought every Japanese was born knowing how. But now I see your daughter practicing. I am sure she will be a champion!
Yes, there are many Japanese who can’t use a chopsticks well
If parents or school don’t teach children it correctly, children can’t learn it
It’s important to practice it when people are children
Its a great idea to build up the correct technique and for practicing the art of using chopsticks. I’ve seen quite a few helpful kids chopsticks out there and they are great for young and old
Thanks It’s nice that there are such people I hope that the art will remain
Since moving to Korea, I’ve learned to use chopsticks. Apparently I hold them differently than most people here, but it works for me, so oh well. We bought a pair of those kid chopsticks a while ago, but we still don’t have any children to use them yet.
I see. Thanks for sharing. That’s good you use it. I sometimes use steel chopsticks at Korean restaurant in Tokyo.
I hope that your children will use them soon.
What is most common there? Here it is all steel, except for when you get take-out and you get the wooden ones. I like the steel ones the best.
Plastic chopsticks are common in Japan. We use steel one only when we eat Korean food.
Disposable wooden chopsticks are also common when you eat bento 弁当 However, I like traditional wood chopsticks
Wow.. that’s great. Well, I’m not that good with chopsticks. I’m still learning. We usually use fork and spoon over here. =D
I see. Thanks. It’s okay for you to use fork and spoon.
some things I’ll never learn …
You can learn it, if you want to use it.
I imagine it takes lots of practice to do it well, like riding a bike or climbing Mt Everest :^)
Mt Everest is so high! If children want to use it, the mountain becomes very small.
It’s maybe a funny story how I learned to use chopsticks very well.
When I went away to college, many former high school classmates of mine went to a neighboring college. Sometimes we would go together to a Chinese restaurant. They said (all young men) I could eat as much as I wanted, if I were still hungry they would even order another dish for me — but I had to eat everything with chopsticks.
I learned. Quickly.
We have some very cute rubber figures that go at the top of the chopsticks for the kids. Nice pics.
That’s very nice Thanks for sharing
I like eating with chopsticks every now and then, but I know that I always do it wrong.
Using and liking chopsticks are the most important Thanks
Oh my God! I will tell my hubby bout this tool. He surely needs one
That’s a good idea I also need to practice to use chopsticks with this again
Such cute chopsticks and looks like a good way to learn. I had a set of cool red chopsticks when I was a kid, but I didn’t have techniques like this to learn to use them. I just jumped right in. It was so long ago, I don’t remember if it was difficult or not.
Thanks That’s very nice that you can use it It’s enough only to use it happily
I had tried using chopsticks while my stay in Japan. But it is very difficult and after a few attempts left it at that. Now I have kept a few of them as souvenirs
I am sure daughter is going to do a great job with them
I am sure *your daughter.
Please excuse me for the typo.
I see I’m glad that you have some chopsticks I’m sure tat you’ll be able to use it well some day
Wow! That’s fun to learn and play!
Yes, thank you She enjoys practicing it
I like the look of the practice chopsticks… makes perfect sense.
Thank you. We’e glad to hear that. Have a great weekend
Cool! I can never get the proper way how to use it. I’m very aware of how to but just could not get it. I saw the tutorial on the Special Feature of Kung Fu Panda.
That’s nice. I remembered Kung Fu Panda. He is so cute.
This tool is really interesting, I never saw such one before! I like using chopsticks sometimes, but I’m not very good at it
Thanks I also need to use this tool to practice my skill
That’s so cute! It reminded me of pre-cut nori I’ve seen and i Holding supermarket for bento onigiri for kids.
