Windmills in Holland
In Holland, there were over 10,000 traditional windmills and some of them still remain in local areas.
This is a small tourist town called Zaantukans.
You can go inside the windmill and learn how they were used.
In the past, this windmill was used to grind grain into flour.
Nowadays, you can find many modern windmills in local areas. Fittingly, it was often windy in Holland. The ecology system is good for the earth.
If you go to Holland, you should see the old and modern windmills.
By the way, there is only one nuclear energy plant in Holland while there are over 50 in Japan. (Altouhg, now only a few nuclear power plants are running in
Japan. )

Windmills are so beautiful and iconic. I’m glad there are some of the traditional ones still left. Do they still use them for grinding grain or are they mostly just for show now?
Thank you. They still use them for grinding grain although they are a few.
It’s amazing.
great shots – windmills are such nice photo subjects.
Thanks. Yes, it’s interesting to take them photos.
Nice windmills! I think Holland looks very nice when looking at it from a plane.. so many fields that it looks like a huge football court
For how long time were you in Holland?
Thanks a lo.t There are very large field in Holland. I stayed in Holland for three weeks.
It was enough to enjoy the country.
Must have been very cool to see them as you traveled around!
Thanks. Yes, it was very fun to travel around the world.
Amazing photos. I like the photo of the inside of the windmill
Thanks a lot. It was the first time to enter the windmill.
I love your photo of the windfarm – such beautiful and elegant structures.
Thanks much. The structure is fachinating.
Windmills are such an iconic part of Holland and its good to see the new wind-farms, which are a great way to generate energy from a natural source such as wind.
Thanks. I think so. Windmills are important both for sight seeing and creating energy.
I like the old-fashioned ones! We have several Dutch windmills in South Africa, but only one is still a functioning mill. Link here. ^^
I see. I didn’t know that. The link was interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I really like it cocomino, the way you share stories is like you’re bringing me to the place..Holland is really a great and beautiful country known for windmills.
Thanks! I’m glad that you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend.
I went to school with a boy from Holland. When I see windmills I remember him – his family didn’t speak any English and it must have been hard for him amongst all the Australian kids!
I see. It’s a sweet memory. I imagine that it’s hard.
Love the modern and old windmills! Great shots. Are those old windmills still working?
Thanks. Yes, some of them are still working. Amazing.
I find them to be so romantic… and I’m not sure why.
Maybe so. It’s very nostalgic.
I like the charm of these old windmills. Great photos, Cocomino!
The modern ones I see popping up around where I live, although sleek, shiny and impressive, just seem cold and robotic to me.
Thank you. Certainly, the modern one is useful but may not be fascinating.
So interesting. Thank you for sharing your sights with us. I was in Holland when I was younger and would love to go back again one day and explore more. You seem to have done a good job of getting to know the country a bit.
Thanks much. I didn’t know that you were in Holland. I learned a lot during the trip. It’s my treasure.
Was that picture of the green field taken in the helicopter? If so, that was so cool!!!!!
Fortunately, I had a chance to ride a small airplane although it’s a secret.
Great collection of beautiful photos from wind mills. My photo collection from Finnish wind mills is much smaller. We have them, but they are mainly in small villages.
I see. I have never found windmills in Finland. It sounds interesting.
Oh, I see. Here is my post included places I took photos from wind mills in Finland:

The piece of history about windmill is catchy. Nice place, my friend.
Thank you! It’s nice to learn something new. I learned a lot.
