Paper Sumo　紙相撲

Sumo is a traditional Japanese wrestling, as you know.

This paper toy is also our traditional culture from the past.

You can beat the paper box, which is dohyo 土俵, with your finger. The toy is very simple and rare nowadays.

It’s interesting because there are many kinds of wrestler, such as animals and characters.

This is the video which my daughters were playing it.

We say, “はっきょいのこった”（Hakkyoinokotta) when wrestlers begin to fight.

A very sweet post, Cocomino. Reminds me of nice things in my childhood, even if we didn’t have any sumo wrestlers.But we had paper toys.

So much time is spent playing games on computers, phones and tabs nowdays it is great to see kids reverting to traditional games. Reminds me of Tiddlywinks and Pickupsticks – non-electronic games of my youth!

I thought it wasn’t a real game but something he invented for the sake of the film. There was even a scene at the beach, where two people imitated the paper figures and the other two were beating the sand with their hands. It was a funny sight! *^v^*
