There are over 35 museums in Amsterdam.

The national museum in Dutch is one of the largest museums in all Netherlands.

I often prefer the building than the art. But some of the art attracted me.

Fortunately, I was able to take photos in almost all museums.

They were of old ships and traditional crafts.

I am amusing that the most important picture in the museum is “De Nachtwacht” by Rembrandt Harmensz. The picture seems to have the same scale to our body. The size is 363 centimeters by 437 centimeters. According to the audio guide, he tried all the people in the pictue move and control the lighting and the darkness. That is to say, he made various stories in the picture.

    • 撮影OKということと、入場料が海外のほうが日本より安くていいです。 ヨーロッパは、美術館の数もとてもたくさんあって驚きました。

  1. I like the old ship. One of those old ships transported my great-great-great-etc-grandparents to South Africa! :)

The old brick buildings are also beautiful. Oh! That reminds me! The renovated Tokyo Station building opened last weekend. You’ll be able to see it when you get back. It’s gorgeous. ^^

  2. It’s interesting the way they have shiny patterned walls as a background for the paintings. Often one sees very plain, matt colours as a backdrop. 35 museums is a lot!

  3. It looks like a wonderful place to visit! The Art Museum near us is the same way… you are allowed to use a camera (just no flash) except in special exhibits. I think it’s very nice when you are allowed to do that. :)

  4. One of the most famous paintings of the Western world.
Amsterdam is crammed full of art — you will discover the Van Gogh museum, I’m sure. It’s one of my favorites — I wonder what you will think.
