Akateeminen Book Store in Helsinki

This book store was planned by Alvar Aalto.

It’s a perfect place for me because I like both books and architecture.

There are also Japnese books

The void is interesting and you feel good sunlight from the top.

There is also an Alva Aart cafe in the store.

Many Japanese come to this book store because the Japanese movie, called Kamome Shokudou(かもめ食堂), was popular in Japan.

The movie shows this store, Nuuksio National Park, good cafe and so on.

This space was same to the cinema’s world.

  1. That’s quite a nice bookstore!
I like the Kinokuniya bookstore I went to in Osaka. My friend was helping me find good Kanji learning books and children’s books to practice reading. But I was still fascinated by all the different books in the store even if I couldn’t read them. I could spend hours there.

    • Thank you so much. I understand that. It’s nice to spend hours at bookstore. We can learn and imagine a lot through books even if we can’t read them. As you know, Kinokuniya is one of large bookstores in Japan.

  2. I love that place, could spend hours there just looking though all the nice books they have!! But at first the shop seems a bit too big, and it takes a long time to find what you’re looking for.. But just for passing time, it’s a great way for sure :)

  3. Dear Masa, it is indeed interesting to see Finland through your eyes and what captures your interest. I have been to Academic Bookstore so many times and yet I believe I never studied the fascinating architecture like you did!! I will be sure to be more observant when I go there the next time :D Sharon

    • Thank you. It’s nice that you can go the bookstore easily and see the detail and drink a coffee at the cafe.
Otherwise, if you come to Japan, you find a lot of things which I didn’t notice.
