Old Houses Museum in Finland
If you want to see the various kinds of old housing of Finland, this museum, called the Serastiim Museum, is best.
The most interesting feature of the museum is that it is located in a small isdland which is full of trees.
As you know, Finland is called, “Forest Country.” So the houses go well with the environment of the islands.
The houses were built between eighteenth century and ninteenth century.
Those houses were all over Finland in the old days.
It’s very educational to know old wooden and brick houses in Finland.
Japanese old houses were also made by wood but the way of building was quite different from their way of building.
By the way, you may remember the Meiji village or Architectural Museum in Japan if you know Japan well.

I enjoyed this post! Lots of wooden houses that remind me of Japan, a windmill that reminds me of Holland, a big blue sky that reminds me of Africa. All bases covered!
Finland is so beautiful. Your photos look like postcards.
PS: Do you miss Japan yet?!
Thank you. Yes, there are many windmills in Hollanda. The isdland was very beautiful and some people were running.
Of course, I miss Japan but I still enjoy other country.
I like those old wooden churches so much, saw them in my childhood – thank you for giving me back old memories! A stylish book: Carl Larsson – but that’s Sweden, not Finland …
Many thanks. As you say, there are many Swedish culture in FInland. Sometimes, it’s Russian culture.
Very interesting place. It is nice to see they have preserved the old houses so generations can see the old style homes.
Thank you. It’s great to preserve them well and we can see them easily.
Cocomino, you give me the mood to go back to Finland
Also, you seem to have great weather, which is a great to visit Finland as everything is very green and blossoming. !I really like the old church !
Thank you so much. Indeed. It’s a nice place to feel nature things, especially green.
Old houses are so nostalgic.
Places like this are so interesting, we have visited a similar one on an island in Sweden.
I see. I didn’t know the Swedish one. Thanks.
Looks very interesting and with all those trees would be nice and cool during the summer
Many thanks. It’s nice to walk around during the summer but I heard that winter is also cool because of tons of snow.
The windmill looks like it has more than 400 years of age >u<
That’s true, It has a long history.
趣のある佇まいだね。 連絡:Yメールの調子が悪いらしく(全国的に?)見られません。
そうでしょ。

Thank you! I enjoyed it.
Oh, I love old museums like this one!
That’s great. Me, too.
So much history! I think it is fascinating to see how architecture has ‘evolved’ over time… and even now how certain elements can be traced back to earlier times / styles / methods! Fantastic!
Thanks. I think so. Many people see the good old designs and they are inspired by them.
What a wonderful, and interesting, collection of houses. I like the idea of the museum on the island.
Thanks a lot. I also like the idea. There is also a zoo of the island. I may visit the zoo next week.
Beautiful place!
