Weekly Photo Challenge: Urban

smodern city (2)

This place is in Shinjyuku, Tokyo. It’s one of the city cities in Japan.
This area is called a high building area. There are many buildings which are over 20 floors.
So, even 10 floor buildings look small. In addition, human beings are tiny and the wind between high buildings is strong. The streets are no longer for people but for cars.

I’m curious about how the buildings in the future will be built.
Will they be built higher or lower(under ground)?

PS: I added two photos taken by iPhone. It’s interesting, isn’t it?

PS02: I’ll not see such crowded city for a short period.I’ll write about it next post. See you soon.

  1. I did a double take!! it’s so much like that London building, just like meanderer mentioned, above!
Tokyo definitely comes to mind when i think “urban.” Every picture I’ve ever seen is full of high-risees and bustling with people! You can see the energy everywhere you look!

  2. You were in the Odakyu Department Store?

You won’t see such crowded scenes? Where are you going?

I sometimes work in this area. It’s not that crowded in the Nishi-Shinjuku office area, and I never get tired of looking at the skyscrapers. Some streets are wind tunnels, but others have gorgeous massive ケヤキ. That’s nice, too.

PS: But I still think the shitamachi is the best. ;)

  4. I very well remember Shijyuku from my visit. Its station was indeed very crowded. That building is a terrific capture! I so admire the futuristic creations of Japan :)

  5. I got a feeling as if I had seen a futuristic city in a SF movie. Fabulous photo!
When I went to Mori Buildings, I saw a traditional Japanese garden surrounded by skyscrapers . . Surprisingly enough, I thought they fit each other and never felt strangeness. For a temporary visitor like me, Tokyo is super attractive.

  6. Very interesting indeed!
I would LOVE to visit Tokyo! From what I’ve heard the energy is amazing… I’m not sure I could always keep up, but the images I’ve seen look so beautiful! It seems like it would be a fascinating place! :)
