About Gunma 群馬 01 : The Oldest Stock Farm in Japan
My family and I visited an onsen (hot spa) in Isobe onsen of Gunma prefecture.
First, we went to a large stock farm(神津牧場) where you can enter freely and play with animals.
This place is the oldest Western style farm in Japan since 1890.
It’s located in 1,000 meters above sea level and it’s really cool compared to my neighborhood.
Fortunately, there weren’t any strict rules in the farm as far as touching the animals and feeding them is concerned.
So my children were able to pet various kinds of animals.
They could feed grasses to the rabbits.
My youngest daughter rode on a small horse for the first time.
She felt tension but didn’t cry.
Finally, we took a goat in the farm. The goat had stronger power than we thought and went to a grass field to eat them a lot.
People must have thought that the goat took us and the goat was our owner.
Of course, we could buy souvenirs and eat some food such as beef on rice, hamburgers and soft milk cream.
Recently, it has become common for families to enjoy going to stock farms.
I’ll write about cows in my next post.

A very good post, ha ha ha, loved the bit about the goat, Cocomino. Goats are so sweet, but can be so stubborn. It is lovely that even modern, city children have a chance to meet farm animals and to learn were the food come from. And to have a lovely time with all the animals, because animals are so wonderful creatures.
Thank you so much. I’m happy that you laughed at the goat. We also smiled with the goat.Certainly, animals can affect children good. That was a good experience for us.
What a great experience.
Love the photo of you and your daughters tugging the non-budging goat. ^^
Thanks much. It was a bit funny relationship between the goat and us.
I wished to be there too
Seems it was a great fun… Thank you dear Cocomino, love, nia
Thanks much. I hope so. It was really fun in the farm.
What a laugh that goat being the owner!!! hahaha….lovely post!!
Thanks! I smiled that you laughed at the goat.
What a great experience for you and your family! Interesting place, and I was especially amused by your comment on the “goat was our owner.”
Thanks. The goat didn’t take care of us and went to the place where he likes.
I also like the goat
That’s good. Thanks!
お嬢さんと動物のふれあいの姿がとても愛らしいです。 それ以上に、cocominoさん とお嬢さん達が懸命に山羊を引っ張る姿に癒されました。 o(*^▽^*)o 今週の大ヒットです!
Places like this are so special for the children to experience getting close to animals.
Thanks. Yes, it’s special. We can experience unusual things like this.
What a great place. I love the photos of the goat – it looks so strong and, as you say, in charge! Looking forward to the cows
Thank you! Many cows were very exciting.
Great fun for the whole family and kids of all ages love the animals. We are lucky in Australia to have a lot of places like these, but the kids never get bored and always enjoy the experience.
Thank you. I agree with you I can imagine that there are many fun places in Australia. Koalas and kangaroos are our favorite.
Looks like the goat wanted his independence and not used to be taken for a walk.
That’s right. He looked to want to live in his way.
You can trust a goat to make you laugh.
Looks like a wonderful place.
That’s true. We laughed a lot and you seemed to laugh by a goat.
Hahaha… goats certainly do seem to have a mind of their own at times, don’t they?!
Yes, they have their thought and didn’t hear what we said.
Indeed, I was surprised at the power of the goat. You need a strong power to take him for walk.
Reblogged this on The JapanTourist Blog.
The goat is too hungry heeheee
That’s right. We laughed a lot.
