Summer Day Camp

My family and I went to a day camp held by day care after school(学童) today.

My eldest daughter tried to break a watermelon with the long bar.
It’s called, “Watermelon Splitting.”. You need a blindfold and turn around ten times before starting a game.
My daughter wasn’t strong so she hit it lightly. :)

This is an usual event every year.
(I wrote about the same camp last year. )

Anyway my children’s favorite is playing in a river. The clean and cold water makes us feel refreshed.

The nature around the camp site is very beautiful.

Many people gathered at this place because it is a nice place and it wasn’t easy to find empty space.
The only fee you need to pay is the parking charge.
Camping is fun, isn’t it?

  1. またひとつご家族のいい思い出ができましたね。スイカ割は力をいれすぎると汚く割れるので、力加減がむつかしいですね。私はそれ以前の問題で、違う方向に向いていることでしょう。

  2. We had a picnic with our church and one woman had grown up in Japan. She taught us the watermelon splitting game and we tried it. It seems like an expensive game, at least nowadays in Korea. Here watermelon can be as high as 2000 yen.

  3. Looks like a fun camp… we also do the suika wari but I only let the girl students do it… the boys really wreck up the watermelons, turning them into pieces and waste…

  4. Breaking a watermelon! Looks a lot like breaking a pinata at a Mexican-style birthday party – except maybe messier if they actually break it!
