Doing Things Yourself

Recently, it seems you need to do many things yourself.
For example, you need to fil your own tank at the gas station.
You need to wash your hair after going to a cheap barber shop.
You need to refill your own water glass at restaurants.

It’s one way to reduce worker’s cost.

On the other hand, there are also activities that are fun to do by yourself. The amusement park “Kizania”, where children can experience various jobs such as a cake shop worker, a doctor and a fireman is very popular

As for my family, we experienced various jobs at a nearby zoo.

We washed goats with a brush

Their hair was coarser than we expected.

We were also able to gather animal droppings with this tool.

It depends on whether you like the jobs or not.

Anyway doing things yourself is in fashion right now.

  1. Life definitely has evolved into doing more things yourself. It seems I am reminded every time I go grocery shopping. :) Great experience at the zoo!

    • That’s good. Of course, my kids prefer to work in a cake shop.
Since “Kizania”キッザニア is very crowded, we have never visited the place.
      What a shame.

  3. I recently got invited to clean the macaques cage at the zoo as volunteer work. I think it’s also in fashion to get the community involved in things that are usually off access.

  4. I congratulate you for getting your daughters directly involved in some animal care. Such a great introduction to practicing wordless communication and empathy with God’s creatures!

  5. This is one fun place where kids could play and learn what it is to work in a adult world. Helps kids discover what they want to be when they grow up. Best wishes to your family.

  6. I was very surprised to hear about the gas stations. We are used to do-it-yourself here; we had envied the level of service in Japan. But I guess nothing is permanent —
On the other hand, helping out in the zoo to see how it goes first hand and personally — that is a learning opportunity, and who knows? might lead to other involvement with animals.

  7. This is a wonderful way to teach children about the difficulties of doing certain jobs. They learn how to do things they may not have thoguht they would have wanted to know. The animals must have been fun for them.
    Very nice ….
