Curry Rice

I think that Japanese people really like curry because there are many special curry restaurants and curry powders at grocery stores. All seasons including summer are good for eating curry.

As for my house, there is always curry powders.
I add it after I boil various vegetables such as onions, potatoes, carrots and eggplants. I can cook ten dishes per one powder but my family and I eat all of them in one night.

I also have instant curries at home.
It’s very easy to cook them because I only need to boil them for three minutes and put on rice.

The taste isn’t bad.

The best friend of curry is a pickled shallot which my mother cooked. It tastes sour and a bit hot.

PS: My diary is full of food. Lol.

  1. Curry is amazingly great food. It is easy to cook , but it makes everybody happy. I have never met anybody who dislikes curry!! Your blog makes me want to have curry for dinner!!
    keiko

    • I agree with you. Thank you so much.

  2. Food is great and a very important part of any country’s culture! *^v^*
I love Japanese curry, I prefer it to the Indian one. I buy the instant spicy type and add to stewed meat and vegetables, yummy! *^v^*

  3. My son and I love Japanese curry. We are able to buy Japanese curry powders at our local Asian supermarket. Yet another one of your posts that is making me really hungry …

  4. “I think that Japanese people really like curry.” So do foreigners in Japan: we love Japanese curry! CoCo Ichibanya is everybody’s favourite restaurant! :D

I usually buy instant curry but sometimes I make it from scratch. That’s nice, too. (I just can’t use vegetables from my own garden. Sigh.)

    • That’s good. There is also CoCo Ichibanya near to my office and I go to the shop sometimes.
The taste of the instant curry improved very much than before.
It’s okay if there aren’t any vegetables because the curry powder includes a small amount of the vegetables.

  5. This looks really delicious Cocomino – especially the next to last photo! Yumm. And I love your food posts, always good to learn a new way of preparing one of my favorite things… FOOD. :D

  6. I was just at a Japanese curry restaurant today for lunch, here in Korea. Not sure if it was authentic, but it was really good. We usually eat instant curry too. Pretty good and very easy ^^

  8. I love Japanese style curry rice and it is cheap to eat at restaurants. One of my favourite budget Japanese restaurants is CoCo Ichiban Curry House. We also make it at home with the curry roux that you can buy at the supermarket. A little secret is to add some apple or chocolate for added sweetness :)

  9. This post made me really hungry! I have a package of S&B Golden Curry Sauce Mix. I think I will buy some shrimp or chicken, and cook it with onions and the sauce mix, and make some rice — ooh, yum.
Do you like shrimp or chicken curry better?

  10. Thanks for posting this. I love curry – but it has to be non-spicy or very mildly spicy, or I can’t tolerate it. I like the Japanese curry because the ones I’ve had aren’t very spicy. My hubby has concocted a non-spicy curry mix that I love. The tumeric, typically in curry, is also a very healthy spice.

    • Thank you. As you said, Japanese curry isn’t too hot and moderate.
Tumeric is also popular in our country and I can find it at super market easily.
      Happy Curry Life!

  12. Your diary must be full of delicious entries!
With all the food photographs you share I don’t think I have ever seen one that didn’t look wonderful! I sure wish I had your great skill with cooking! :)
